Dorset chili festival

We went to the first festival last year at Wimborne St Giles and enjoyed it enough to go back this year. Amazed how many stalls are devoted to all things chili - sauces, pickles, jams, chili plants, chili- inspired pottery and artwork, and of course food and drink. Went to an excellent talk about the history of chillies and their varieties, by the Wiltshire-based grower who currently holds the record (certainly UK, possibly world) for the hottest chilli. One of his methods is to subject his plants to stress to make them respond by  producing more capsicanoids (is that the word?) So he thrashes, cuts, crushes, drops his plants and shouts at them, all in the interests of science. His research is joint with the University of Bath.
