First day of the athletics, which we were lucky enough to go and see, via the jubilee rather than the central line. Triple jump, shot put, the hammer (fantastic), 100m, 400m and 400m hurdles, as well as the heptathlon, meant we were spoilt for choice. Jessica Ennis ran a scorching 100m hurdles (world record), while the other GB heptathlete (Johnson-Thompson) jumped 189cm in the high jump. The 3000m steeplechase heats were amazing, except for a lagging athlete who strangely ran into the final jump (seemingly not seeing it) and was injured, I hope he's OK. Here's a 400m heat, although blipping the orbit again was tempting.
