Purple Swamphen (No really)

If you'd told me 4 years ago, before I started nature photography that I'd have driven 2 hours after work to stand in the pouring rain waiting for a bird, this is not what I'd have imagined....

This Western Purple Swamphen, if accepted by the powers that be, will be the first ever wild one in Britain. There have been a few others over the years, but they've been traced to collections.

Normally, these can be seen in marshland in Iberia, but the last few years have been spreading northward into France and the presence of one in Brittany means that this one has got a real shot at being accepted to the British list.

I'll be back there on Saturday hoping to get better shots in decent light
