Oregon

Today we had total dense fog near the beach, so we needed sweaters, did our walk along the Siltcoos river and had a - for me first - sighting of a bald eagle and a big otter, first diving and fishing very successfully in the river and then hobbeling around on land. We then tried to find a spot alongside the Highway 101 where we used to have a view over the green Hinterland and the lake Tahkenitch. We were blocked by big stones and what you see in this picture. This obviously had been put in the way of drivers to keep us out of the area. The forest had been cut off in big parts and and only a strip alongside the highway was hiding the damage, lots of ugly naked slopes.
Oregon is a green paradise, but the logging companies have no mercy.
In the extra I put an idyllic picture of the same lake, taken from a bit higher up with a little house on the lake. It must be very silent there....
Thank you for all the good wishes for Ellie!
