Chalkie

I was relieved today to see a couple of male Chalkhill Blues flying on our neighbours land next to the nature reserve. We help to manage this area, but have not been able to graze it recently and the grass is really getting too long for a species like this. Great to see they are hanging on and hopefully we'll crack the grazing issue before next year.

The extra photo is of the tiny larval case of a micro-moth Coleophora gryphipennella, found on a rose leaf at the reserve yesterday - a really small find, but it is the 735th moth species we've recorded for the site.
