First Day Cover

These delightful stamps make up part of the most recent First Day Covers issued by Royal Mail. They commemorate the 150 years since Beatrix Potter was born in Kensington, London on 28th July 1866.

Sadly, many people never see wonderful stamps like these now, as we tend to buy plain stamps in supermarkets and post offices are few and far between! So much work must go into their production, and the detail of the designs are beautifully presented.

I have been collecting First Day Covers for many years, and apart from the beauty of the stamps themselves, they represent our history via the commemoration of so many special events!
