Olympic Betty

80 years today, 6th August 1936 at the Berlin Olympics, one of my relatives, ran for Canada in the final of the 80 meters hurdles in 8.811 seconds which secured her a bronze medal, just beaten by Odina Valla of Italy who got the gold medal and Anni Steur of Germany who won the silver medal. It turned out that initially all 3 athletes ran the race in 8.11 when hand timed and the medals were only decided with automatic timing. So Betty was close to getting the gold medal!

So in commemoration of the 2016 Olympic Games commencing in Rio De Janeiro, but more importantly, my relative Betty, well done, you're not forgotten.

Happy Saturday all.
