Sally Mair - Loving life

Checking us out

Visited the House of the Binns today, the home of Tam Dalyell and his family and now a National Trust property. Fascinating visit with a tour by a very knowledgeable volunteer guide. Highly recommended. This is one of the resident peacocks checking us out.
I was amazed when in India, where they are native so live in the wild, to see one fly to the top of a palm tree. I hadn't realised they could fly until that point. Glorious colours.
The house has a nice way to keep children interested as they go round They are given a plan of the house and asked to find a peacock in every room. When they are leave, they are presented with a peacock feather to take away if they have managed to find them all (even if they haven't I think actually!).
