Smallest Sandpiper

This is the Least Sandpiper, the smallest sandpiper in the world. It's on it's way south after summering in the tundra. This particular bird watched me for seven minutes before deciding it was safe to return to foraging and preening.

Extra photo is a size comparison least sandpiper to a killdeer. I would term a killdeer a medium sized bird.
