Farewell to Cliona

6th August 2016:

This looks, to me, as Cliona’s goodbye to the troops as she plans her departure back to Ireland after her 6 months of volunteer work with Wells for Zoe.
I’m sure it’s a sad farewell as she has done such tremendous work and has been totally involved and immersed in everything
The girls here are our Saturday Class people who are coming during their holidays, mainly for English and Maths but other subjects as well.
Missing here are all the girls who finished Form 4 and those who have gone back to their villages having spent term time closer to schools while living with relatives.
Computer studies, typing mainly go on everyday, the girls get fed and do some work in the garden.
Next term the plan is to introduce a course in Course in Practical Horticulture. Not worked out yet, but like everything else, it will happen and will probably be unique.
Learning to feed themselves may be the most important thing these girls learn.

Cliona is a degree year student in University College Cork and was truly amazing.
Her course is a BSc International Development and Food Policy. I have just looked at the report required on completion of her internship/placement with us.
She just aced everything and we are so proud of her and delighted that she chose us and our people.

I am sure she will wow them back in UCC, next term. She has done it all
