Life on Mars

We stumbled upon this Martian type landscape almost by accident after seeing a picture in a guide book. It's in the Bardenas Reales National park , Spain. We have made our way somewhat inland now towards the Spain I remember from my teenage years when we drove across to get to Portugal , with my dad driving. It's a land of golden brown sun scorched fields of stubble , punctuated by fruit orchards and olive plantations, and intense dry heat. We were aiming for roughly Jaca and have found a place to stay overlooking a wonderful view south towards Zaragoza.
It's stunning, hot and dry and there's an intriguing looking little Castle on a rocky outcrop up the road which we might go and investigate in the morning, Castillo de Loarre.
