Icon no.2 Christ Pantocrator (The Almighty)

Started my second icon today. It's such a complex process but I want to complete a couple of icons before backtracking and improving in each area. Much trial and error so need to keep a diary of pitfalls!

Image 1 = gesso board scored with image outline
Image 2 = outlines painted
Image 3 = base areas of block colour added (flesh much too dark)

Have learned today that:
Base flesh tone much too dark
Scored guide lines hinder the 'outline' brush strokes of an icon this size. (5" x 4") Next time use scoring to show outline of block colour areas only. (Not design details.)

Guilding tomorrow then revisiting flesh tones and building up detailed areas in translucent colour glazes. (Hopefully.)
