Tired Flames

At the end of the day, as the sun fades, extinguished by the dark, the old flames of home are made particularly warm.  Dying sunflowers take on the most interesting forms.  I love watching them evolve.  At the beginning, they are just fat, green buds, unchanging for the longest time.  Then, they burst open and remain perfect, giant flowers for another while.  But their decline is sometimes even longer, and all the changes they go through bring out beautiful forms and colors and textures.
