Death of a tree

Many of you (especially my guests, will know Loughrigg Tarn, and the tree that sits on the headland that juts out into the tarn halfway along it. I have photographed this tree many times, and my group today took the last pictures of that tree.

As we were shooting at the edge of the tarn, two National Trust trucks turned up, and a group of guys armed with Chainsaws cut it down.

The only way to see the sequence of the end of this lovely tree is to look large on black. As I couldn't post 15 "extras" showing it being felled.

The extra is the stump on the edge of Loughrigg - felt pretty sad to see the tree go.
