Booking Hall, Knaresborough Station

Look closely at the booking hall at the rail station in Knaresborough and you will notice a certain amount of trickery.

In the 160 year old station, these are two examples of the trompe l'oeil art work which has been developed around the town in recent years, as part of the Festival of entertainment and the visual arts (feva), which takes place every August.

The clever realism of the paintings can make passers-by look twice as a reality check. In this case, there is a clue in the pictures - these station staff are actually smiling,
