What do you think this might be?

I spent today working in Salisbury where for the last few weeks the forecourt of their petrol station has being undergoing a major refurbishment. I was there today to check that all the various components of the system were communicating with each other such as the pumps sending information to the tills. This picture shows the inside of one of the brand new petrol pumps.
