Last day

It's cloudy this morning and I'm out of sorts - I didn't sleep well and ended up sitting in the car reading.

We decide to spend the afternoon in Bordeaux, so head there directly. The Cité Mondiale car park is deep underground and the circular ramp is steep and narrow, but it's dark and cool, which is never a bad thing.

It's lunchtime, so we let the Internet suggest Le Grat, a basque restaurant by the Chatrons market. I'm sure you can find bad restaurants in France, but you have to try hard.

We wander down Rue de Sainte Catherine towards some 2nd hand record shops. It's an uncomfortably busy pedestrian shopping street - my idea of a nightmare. The record shops are interesting, but expensive. We leave unburdened by purchases and instead spend our change on a smoothie and a citron pressé at a nearby hipster café.

Angus is roundly dismissive of the skaters on the quai beside the river, but it's a pleasant walk with great views. And it's off to the airport via a service station - where we dispose of rubbish and bequeath what's left of a wine box to a couple of stranded German hitchhikers (trying to get to Spain).

At the airport, I speak to Megan and Claire, successively discovering that Megs got all Bs in her Advanced Highers/Highers and has been offered a place at Glasgow. Result!

The flight home is uneventful, and we're soon in the Subaru, driving (on the left) around the by-pass. Asda for milk, then home, to find Angus's N5 results waiting in the postbox - all As ;)
