Cute Coot

A walk round the harbour at Schierstein today and we happened on this moulting cootlet.  Ok it isn't a perfect reflection in the water,  but I'm not that quick or good.  This will do though.

Go large and have a look at its huge feet.

We were supposed to be going out to dinner with the QSM tonight but it turned into a bit a farce.  We decided on Restaurant A - good food and never that busy during the week.  Ok we're meeting there at 7:15.  And then I have a thought "German restaurants can be funny - better check the website..."  It's closed on Thursdays.

Ok what about Restaurant B then?  A bit further away but let's go.. 

What are the odds that it was also closed on Thursday?  Of course it was.

Plans cancelled and we're going somewhere tomorrow that we know will be open.

And for your German vocabulary books this is "ein Blässhühn" or "eine Blässralle".  Although given it is very young you could call it "ein Blässhühnchen" and that would be ok too.
