Varlam Shalamov

Exhibition honouring Varlam Shalamov, the great "writer, journalist, poet and Gulag survivor".  He wrote Kolyma Tales about his 17 years in a Soviet Gulag.  This is a NY Times review of one of his translated manuscripts, Graphite, published in the west in 1981.  An amazing life.
