Time to go home

We left our self catering at 9 o'clock and went to Tankerton for one last look at the sea. We waited for the little, old fashioned seaside cafe to open and had  tasty sausage sandwich and a cup of tea.We sat outside enjoying the sunshine watching the people arrive for a day on the beach. We watched the Thames barge sail off from Whitstable harbour heading for the fort and windmills.
We then set off on our journey to Bushey to see Mikes Mum and Dad.A good journey to the Dartford tunnel, a bit slow but moving going through and then a few delays because of broken down vehicles. A lovely lunch and chat and also great to see our nephew Daniel.
We just had enough time to go to Dunstable Downs where we sat sating the enormous peach we bought from the Greengrocers in Whitstable and drinking tea. People were flying kites as Gliders flew overhead. It was hot but very breezy.
Car returned with plenty of time, then a long hot wait to go through security to find that our fight was delayed, groan ! So a meal in Frankie and Bennie's and slow drinks pasted some of the time. Our flight was due to take off at 7 but in the end we had to wait until 9.45pm. Richard picked us up and we were home just before midnight and it was raining !
