Sri Lanka Day Three

Kandy

Day three was pretty packed with touristy stuff. We drove to Matale to visit a huge Buddha temple and a spice garden before proceeding to Kandy to see the local craftsmen at work in batik, gems and wood factories.

We spent a couple of hours just roaming the streets of Kandy getting a feel for the place. It's pretty intense with people and traffic absolutely everywhere. As it was raining pretty heavily, Larissa's legs were getting splattered with mud which prompted the locals to stare at them pretty much all afternoon. It must have had something to do with her knees showing!

We managed to plonk ourselves in an internet café later in the afternoon to check our email (and Blip, of course - off the popular journals page already; how easy it is to forget!) Later that evening, we saw a cultural show with local dancers and singers and a group of guys doing a bit of fire-walking.
