The first lighthouse

... of at least three to be visited this week if we stick to our plan. We headed to Penmon Point and Trwyn Du lighthouse this afternoon. I do like a lighthouse and I actually have this one in print form twice from two of my favourite artists but I have only ever seen the real thing from the A55 before. The tide was fairly well out so there were lots of rock pools and quite a bit of rock clambering to get the lighthouse from all angles. My chosen shot (from about 60ish of the lighthouse alone) has benefitted from a bit of faffery.  A bit more sun and blue sky in the first place would have been even better but it was still an impressive sight and sound with the bell tolling every thirty seconds. We came back via the very tranquil ruins of the priory and the current church and graveyard, many of whose inhabitants were lost at sea.

This morning we walked the prom and up onto the headland to look towards Puffin Island without being able to spot the lighthouse from that angle. And tonight the light has been beautiful across the Straits which bodes well for a bit of sunshine and blue sky tomorrow - and lighthouse number two.

Extra added: Bailey in the ruins of Penmon Abbey - not co-operating with having his picture taken...
