Sri Lanka Day Seven

Columbo

For the last few hours before the Columbo airport transfer, we grabbed a tuk-tuk and drove around for a while. There is a huge police presence in Columbo, all armed to the teeth next to barricades and barbed wire. Scary stuff. Two years ago, the Tamil Tigers from the north of Sri Lanka attacked Columbo which is why the police presence is so visible. The tuk-tuk we were in was pulled aside for a search but we obviously had that dumb tourist look about us to we were waved on quickly.

We hit the local shopping mall, just to see what it was like. It was rubbish, so whilst Larissa browsed for an hour or so, I entertained myself by taking panning shots of the traffic. I've only ever tried panning once before and was surprised at how difficult I found it this time - this is the best of almost a hundred shots!

A bit of a wait at check-in (why do some people take forever to check-in? It only ever takes me thirty seconds!) it was back to a pleasantly cool Muscat.
