Day Two

Another glorious day. Even warmer, so we did what you do when you live beside the Med - you go in for a swim. Invigorating!
Then up to Summerhall to meet an old Uni pal of the other half - one 'Red Ron' - his campaigning days may be coming to an end but he still gives a mean report back from the Unison Retired Members Conference.
Onward - on foot - Including a snooze in the meadows and an ice cream in George St, to see Pilgrimer at the book festival. A reimagining of Joni Mitchell's Hejira (pronounced Hejira) by James Robertson which was first performed at Celtic Connections. Fabulous - and the discussion on stage added to it all. Karine Polwart had the phrasing bang on, and her brother's guitar work was well, sublime. It's a cracking album in the first place. Her best. Discuss etc.
And then a big comedown - word arrived that my old pal SM had passed away. I phoned Brenda and we had a long talk. God, we had great times as lads together. Summer days just like this.
