First of the Autumn Wine for a Small Heath

This is specially for Blip's own crocus man, TonyG.

... Lots of autumn crocuses were out near Rhêmes Notre Dame today. They were so open and bright in the afternoon sun. And I finally photographed an Apollo, after failing yesterday (see extra)These are big butterflies and have several colour variations in their wing spots.

Thanks for the huge response that sent yesterday's Damon butterflies onto the first popular page. The Gran Paradiso is certainly an area to go for butterfly hunting, even though I was Bouquetin hunting, too many tourists around I guess.
