Chicken Watching

Another visit to Craigies Farm with the Flumlet, as it is so well set up for children of all ages. We met the chickens, but weren't too sure about close contact even through the wire; we met Ben the Shetland pony, but weren't too sure when he Huffed even though he was back in his stable by then and we saw the Big Fat Pig, who was sleeping as she is expecting a litter of piglets in the next couple of weeks.  Then we collected some eggs from the chickens' laying boxes, which was great fun because we had to lift each lid to see whether there were any, and count how many (up to three) and put them carefully into our bag before Mr Flum went into the shop for a proper box while we washed our hands.
But the best bit was watching all the planes, which fly over every two minutes, so we went down to our viewing area and, in between planes, tried to learn how to blow thistledown from our hands (though found it very difficult to let go) but just couldn't tear ourselves away so were late home for lunch.
Maybe next time we can try to pick fruit?
