A terrible bit of wordplay leavened only by the (other) delightful Doris.

It is, of course, Obatzda.  A speciality from Bavaria (which I wish you would learn to call Bayern).  I don't think they've quite thought through how it looks on the plate when it is served.

The "An Guad'n" that you can read on the plate is shorthand Bayerisch for "Guten Appetit".  Pronunciation & the rhythm of speech in Bayern is a whole new (and never-ending) adventure in learning German.

When I think about it, I don't think you can ever say "That's it, I've learned the language".  I think the best you can hope for is to think "I've learned enough to enable me to learn lots more."
