old meets new

Today is World Photo Day (as if you didn't know!) and as luck would have it while we were at the in-laws for a final meal I noticed the Kodak Brownie sitting on a shelf. Bought for a fiver as a display piece it's in full working condition. Even better, it looks like you can quite easily adapt 120 film to be 620 format to fit the brownie.

The photo contains a few elements: the image in the viewfinder is my father-in-law, the viewfinder is obviously part of the Brownie (I love the design; independent viewfinders for portrait/landscape, toggle for fixed shutter or bulb mode and of course huge negatives!), the photos to the side are of my mother-in-law, her father and brother and the whole thing was shot on the x-pro1. Closer view of the photos in extras #1.

The weather has finally broken: a drop of >10C and heavy rain coincided with a trip to Glasgow so not too a complete washout; extra #2 is Queen Street in the rain. The traffic system in Glasgow is absolutely abysmal. Glasgow council: you should be ashamed. We finally managed to get in and get parked before having a wander, a fruitless trip to Biggars music shop, a better trip to Merchant City Music and a rather vexing trip out of Glasgow again.

Packing this evening followed by a long trip south tomorrow.

In case you've not seen it, this guy takes some great shots of rockets launching.
