Sail away

I was awake early and could see pink tinted clouds through the window so even though it was only 5.30am I thought I'd pop outside and see if I could capture the sunrise. The sky looked beautiful with gentle shades of pinks and blues. The moon was still up and I watched as to slowly disappear. I waited and waited for the sun and it finally made an appearance at just before seven. It's surprising how long it took to rise above the mountains.
After a tasty breakfast we went back into Ullapool. We had spoken to the captain of the tall ship last night and he said they were due to sail at 9.30 this morning. He also said that if there was an eastily wind they could put the sails up.
There was a wind and we waited for sometime for her to set sail. It was interesting watching them get ready, pulling in ropes, climbing the rigging etc.As soon as the Ferry arrived they were off and sailed out of the harbour down Loch Broom until turning and putting some sails up. I got a thumbs up and a wave from the captain.
We were thirsty so grabbed a take cup of tea from one of the little cafes and headed to Ardmair to drink it and wait for the ship. However looking at the map we were not sure if we would see her so we drove down to Rhue and there she was sailing by still with the three sails up. We walked down to the white lighthouse and watched the ferry on it's way back to Stornoway . The bracken has started to go brown and some of the heather was out. We stayed for a while just looking at the view.
We popped into the Gallery and had a good chat with the artist, James Hawkins.
We picked up some rolls from the Deli in Ullapool. The sun was out and it was warm. We had hoped to go to Leckmelm Gardens but the arch way entrance was way to tight for our car to go through so we had to give it a miss. The carpark at the Gorge was heaving so no luck there either. Other parking places were filled with Campervans but eventually we found a space near the reservoir and enjoyed our lunch.
A good run home and it stayed dry till we got in :)
