Newhaven harbour wall

A last minute grandparent duty day found us in Newhaven Fort. This is the view from the cliff top looking over the English Channel. The boys liked watching the cross channel ferry come in to dock. It was incredibly gusty up there and youngest grandson flattered me by saying he was worried I'd blow away. It would take more than a puff of wind!

The boys enjoyed the assault course style play area, joining in with a Roald Dahl animation project, exploring the tunnels and seeing the big cannons. Not so popular were the air raid experience and hearing about children their age being evacuated. Youngest excelled himself again by asking was I sent away during the war and was amazed to find out I am actually 4 years younger than his daddy not the same age as his other nanny. Pass the anti wrinkle cream!
