Kris 4th place!

It was an awesome atmosphere at the WOC individual sprint qualification and finals in Stømstad town centre today. It kicked off in the morning for the qualification a little outside the centre using a terrain of mixed urban and open hill side. The spectator race then used this area for their sprint race. Several hours later, we walked down to the town centre to watch the final.
The arena (extra) was right on the water's edge. The athletes had to complete an arena run through, the remaining 2/3 of the course, and then sprint straight to the finish (behind the camera man). First the women's race, Alice repeated her achievement from last year with a 22nd place, but she knew she could have done better. Next the men's race with Pete, Ralph, and Kris racing. Pete 22nd, Ralph 17th, but talk of the day was Kris Jones, just missing out on a medal to come 4th! It was very tense as Kris was still in bronze medal position until the very last runner (Daniel Hubmann) knocked him into 4th, beating him by 10.8 seconds. Great to see the elites in action and looking forward to the mixed sprint relay tomorrow!
