Belle and the ball

A late night, more Olympics.......so not awake that early, slept ok. We had a cuppa downstairs whilst whizzing through the taped session from last night ;-)

Once we'd got ourselves sorted we went out for the papers; decided to go down into town for a longer walk, although the skies looked a bit ominous, waterproofs at the ready ;-)

We were surprised to see that Reds opens on a Sunday, so we made the most of it.......scramble egg and bacon on toast and a cup of tea ;-) had a quick look at the papers before walking home, we managed to avoid the showers, and the sun put in an appearance on the way back :-)

Hub decided we should have a "run out" in the new motor just for the fun of it, so off we went, through a few little villages we've never been through before, including a tiny toll bridge, which cost 12p one way, or 25p for an all day ticket :-) ending up not far from Lymm where mum and dad used to live.

We drove to Ye Olde No.3, a pub on the canal bank, where we used to moor up frequently as a family, but we were sad to see its closed down and is in a dilapidated state:-(
Still plenty of narrow boats moored up...... probably dismayed to find it empty, it seems it's the brewery that had doubled the rent and the guys that owned it just couldn't afford to keep it going......so sad :-(

We found all this out from a retired chap on his boat which was called "Soddam Hall" which I thought was just great :-) We were throwing the ball for a lovely young sheep dog, who turned out to be his three year old dog, Belle, seen here posing on the stern of their boat. Apparently she adopts this stance when she has smelled or found another dogs "poop" on the canal bank. Her master keeps a shovel, just out of sight in this shot, and she goes and stands by it, until he gets the shovel and clears the offending deposit ;-)

We drove back home on the motorway, hub is very happy with the new car. It has a great new feature, a blind spot alert! If you begin to pull out whilst a vehicle is in your blind spot there is an orange symbol on the wing mirror which lights up to warn you, how cool is that!

Once home hub has a mammoth green bean picking session, which once prepare have all been blanched and frozen.

We've had roasted glazed ham, cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes for dinner, very scrummy it was too.

It has started to rain again now, it's 7.20 and really quite dark :-(

Signing off now as we want to see if our final medal is going to be gold or silver. I don't know what I'm going to do once the Olympics have ended......im sure I'll find something to keep me busy :-)

Have a good new week one and all.
