Hot and humid

Chris and I drove to Suffolk and spent a hot and tiring day in a disused sand quarry, deciding management priorities for the coming year. The recent dry weather meant that virtually all the spring annuals had long since shrivelled up, but we still managed to find a few new plants and some large colonies of solitary bees and wasps. By four o'clock this afternoon the temperature had reached 26C, and I felt decidedly overheated, particularly as we were having to climb steep slopes and battle through scrub. Fortunately we'd taken a flask of strong coffee, which kept me awake for the two hour drive home. But now I really need to get to bed...
