... proper aircraft

Left Munich tonight, destined to be stranded for the night at a third class airport in a first world country.
But for a brief while on the apron at Munich Airport, whilst awaiting the taxi to the runway, it was nice to sit next to one of these lovely beasts, an Emirates A380.
A few days before, Isa, the pup Nana and I were sitting on a secluded bank of the River Isar near Mintraching, Bavaria.
The weather was warm and sunny, the water clear and cool and the picnic home made.
Flightpath location and a favourable wind gave us a version of a civil airline air show as the various aircraft fled from the ends of Munich Airports two runways.
We were treated to a number of displays by the big A380's not more than a couple of hundred meters above our heads, lumbering quietly to their assumed exotic destinations.
.... all very environmentally friendly these days. I do miss the "good" old days when my ears rang after experiencing the taxiing (let alone the take off) of the old BAC 1-11's or Boeing 707's and 720's ... proper aircraft.
