Smell is the topic and JDO is the host.  Smell is defined as the faculty or power of perceiving odors or scents by means of the organs in the nose.  This nose is amazing at detecting odors.  Not only the ones in the house of food being prepared, strangers among us, unfamiliar scents that I bring home, but even today as he was dozing on the bed, he caught the scent of something he didn't recognize through the open window - a snapping turtle of all things!!  He awoke in a frenzy and went to the window barking his little head off. Later it was a deer in the back yard (see extra).  He sniffs his way through city hikes and country walks, going back to unravel the mystery of who was there before him and how to find his way home in unfamiliar places.
