The Scale of Our War

At Te Papa in Wellngton the WW1 commemorations continue and will do so until 2018. Te Papa is not celebrating war, nor judging but has used items from their collections and the public of New Zealand to tell the human stories. Using figures built by themselves and Weta workshop that are many times the size of a human figure they show in detail some of the people caught up in the tragedy of Gallipoli and Chunuk Bair.
This nurse had come to serve at the front and hoped to find her brother who was there. All she received were the letters sent to her parents and back to her saying her brother was killed. Her reaction is one of grief but her response in a letter home was that wounded soldiers were flooding in she must just get on with it.

Very emotional. Rest of news will have to wait for tomorrow.
