Mary Arden's Farm

Whilst Ann was at "work" this afternoon Beryl and I went to Mary Arden's Farm in Wilmcote. This is one of the Shakespeare properties, Mary Arden being Shakespeare's mother.

We enjoyed seeing the rare breeds pigs, cattle and sheep and watching the reenactment of a genuine Tudor lunch. There was also a falconry display using one of the collection of raptors they have on site, in this case a barn owl. Mary Arden's is one of the more interesting of Shakespeare properties being a working farm as well as on site blacksmith and basket weaver and grower of organic produce. For lunch we had root vegetable Pottage Broth made from a Tudor recipe.
