Market Day

Monday is market day in Bakewell (so not always nowt here BradyBird!). There is the traditional one with stalls and all, but also the livestock one for the area's farmers. MattG came round early so we could go take a look at the unknown side of life involving trading cows. Fascinating. Lots going on when looking large, nice beast this one.

There were lots of pound coins being passed between the farmers bidding at the inner fence via the cowstick man, this had us very intrigued. Matt asked someone and it is known as Luck Money - a coin that is passed from seller to buyer when they buy one of their animals. Cool custom.

We did struggle to understand the auctioneer though - I think we were the only ones who had no clue what was being said or how it all worked. Jnr Snr scratched her nose and we ended up buying a year old Friesian!!!
