Red-breasted Nuthatch

This morning we went birding with our friends Kate and Tom, who arrived yesterday from Maine.  We visited the nearby Ossipee Pine Barrens--the first time for all of us.  Although we had only a relatively few species of birds it was a very good morning, sunny and not too hot.  The one species we saw often and well was the Red-breasted Nuthatch--otherwise usually not easy to see (and in fact these were Marylee's and my first ones in years).  The bird in the extra is moving from the branch below to the trunk just to the left--apparently without using its wings.
