Summer

What is Summer like? Well, it smells of sun-cream and sudden rain on hot tarmac. And it tastes of strawberries and melted ice-cream and the salt on your own arm. It looks like melted honey and the glow inside your eyelids when you shut your eyes after looking at the sun and the finger of golden afternoon light reaching across your desk. It sounds like the beach that merges a thousand excited voices into a single wonderful hum. And it feels like salt water drying on your skin or someone's hot palm in your own hand.

What does it really feel like? It feels like the perfect childhood that your past butterflys into, suddenly, after a dozen years. It feels like the last display of beauty from the fading Hollywood star. It feels like joy and regret.
