Peacock

We used to keep peacocks but it all ended in tears when Rameses the male, got a bit aggressive and bit Tammy who was of similar height aged four, taking a beak sized chunk out of her arm! They had to go; I would imagine to the delight of our nearest neighbours who were woken up every morning by their squawking and calling in the willow tree at the bottom of our garden, where they used to roost.

This peacock kept nipping over the fence into the field and disappearing! Once I followed I didn't have long to wait! Underneath a huge overhanging buddleia in full sun was the place to be - so all that remained was to negotiate the nettles!

Our longest lived butterfly - it can survive for about eleven months altho' five months of that is in hibernation. It also makes a hissing noise by rubbing it's wings together, audible by humans, to frighten off predators. Going by his shape he could be a male.
