Fish Pass at Derwenthaugh

Built to allow salmon, eels, etc.to swim past a weir. My husband and I often walk at Derwent Country Park.  The whole area beside the weir was Derwenthaugh Coke Works - very industrial until the early 1980's.  My dad used to work there.  He would be amazed at how the area has changed.  The area is now home to a wide variety of wildlife including deer, otters and numberous red kites.  In fact if we don't see a red kite on one of our walks we are very disappointed.
