The Long & Winding Road

PCP Last Day

We did it!  Unfortunately we couldn't hang around to celebrate as we had to leg it back along the road to catch the last bus to our accommodation. However  we are pleased to have completed it, almost 200 miles walked and over 30,000 ft of ascent should be good preparation for our trek in Nepal.
We last did something like this about 20 years ago when we did the Coast to Coast walk and also the Pennine Way. Those walks appeared more popular and busier. We saw very few other British walkers doing the whole of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, many more Germans, Dutch and Americans. Also we saw very few people carrying heavy packs like us, most people preferring to have their gear transported by a shuttle service. Whilst carrying our gear undoubtedly made the walk more difficult we do not regret this as it was good training carrying our packs. I am now trying to persuade Julie to try the John Muir Trail in California, but she isn't biting at the moment!
