Cyclorama Point Again

In 1931, fully half the rocky mass of this headland slid majestically into the Jamison Valley below. Evidence of the avalanche can still be seen when you are walking the tracks on the valley floor but during the intervening 85 years the scenes of devastation have been submerged by (what is now) a mature temperate rainforest. Amazing to see.

This day was exquisite if a little chilly and the light was perfect. About this time of the afternoon (at this time of year) the departing sun lights up the blank escarpment much as a theatrical cyclorama might look if illuminated by expertly placed floodlights.

I have shot this several times over the years but I do it every 12 months or so in case new blippers may not have seen it before.
