Austrian Stuff #3

We went to the local Red Cross Volksfest (Folk festival) this evening. We met up with a friend whose girlfriend is a volunteer with the Red Cross and was working at the festival. Most towns or villages have a summer festival, usually run by the council, the Red Cross, Fire Brigade or church. They raise funds for these institutions and provide fun to the community as well. They are held in a large tent and there are bars, coffee + cake sections (the Austrians love their cake and coffee) and tables and benches which is serviced by the waiters and waitresses.  One thing that impresses me in Austria is that there is (nearly) always table service for food and drink, even for large events. I tried a few photos of them but they were moving too fast! Service is expected to be slick over here. There is always a live band, usually playing folk music as well as contemporary covers.
A few girls on a hen's night, or Polterer, turned up, the bride to be in white with a veil and the friends in black. The bride was wearing a tray with wrapped gifts. Apparently they ask people to buy something and this helps to fund their night out. Not such a bad idea! The singer from the band climbed onto their table and serenaded to the bride - see extras. I have no idea what song he sang, I was too busy trying to photograph and I had just put my camera away when I noticed him.
