After seeing very few butterflies this year I thought that Saltoun Woods might be a place to find some that I had missed.  We walked about 3 km along various tracks but apart from some whites and a couple of red admirals and several peacock butterflies I saw no others.  Then on noticing that there was an orienteering event I decided to enter despite never having done it before.   I was not bothered about my times and stopped a couple of times to take photos of butterflies but now think I might be hooked and would like to do more.  The photo shows one of the time recording posts.
The extra was of the dawn sky about half an hour before sunrise.
