Happy Pedestrian, Tillicum Bridge, Portland

The relatively new Tillicum Bridge is for everything but cars: people, bikes, trams, trains, but no automobiles. Our last day here, and we walked the bridge on a lovely fresh morning--views of the river, the city skyline, and a circus that was set up in large white tents at the foot of the bridge. True to the spirit of the bridge, we took public transport to get there, to visit friends for lunch and to return to our host house. Quite an urban adventure for someone who distrusts bus schedules, but all went well and we were happy to use our senior train tickets, which are stamped Honored Citizen, a lovely Portland touch. We did, however, take the car for a farewell dinner at Pok Pok Noi for amazing and original Thai food.

The Extra is a view of the bridge, with all its wonderful lines and shadows.
