Eating in the street again. The village social club committee have worked really hard this summer. Every Sunday they open the bar at 9 a.m. for coffee and croissants, carry on into aperitifs and usually do a meal as well, then open again in the evening after a few hours' rest. Today was the last Sunday lunch of the year, so there was a good turnout. S noted that as well as including most of the people we invited on Thursday, our table reconstituted almost the entire committee of our late lamented art association. With the exception of those that we have definitively fallen out with.

Speaking of associations, and starting again, yesterday was the inaugural meeting of our independent choir, liberated from the grip of the council. There were thirty-three people there, a pretty good turnout, and we have elected officers and approved the statutes. Plus we have a programme for the next set of concerts. And even a little bit of money.
