Places old and new

Firstly, a big big thank you to everyone who's helped push yesterday's laughing ibex to the top of the popular page; my surrogate mum will be very happy lol.

Today you won't be surprised to know we opted for something a little less taxing. Last night we were treated to the biggest storm I've seen in a long time, lightening was so frequent it looked like fireworks, my sympathies go out to a fellow Blipper, Baguette, who got flooded.

We decided to go to a firm favourite for lunch the Buvette de la cascade de Barade, which, as we suspected, was a raging torrent. In the hot sun the mist rising off the falls was very welcome as we ate lunch on a veranda perched over the tumbling waters. On the way back we stopped for an amble around the jardin alpine at the Col des Montets, whilst most of the flowers are past their best the little lacs were alive with dragonflies. We wandered for a while, sat for a while, and generally took it easy.
