The Vestal

This is a great time of year for catching migrant moths in moth traps, and I am no exception.
In recent days I have caught Silver Y's, The Rusty -dotted pearl, and Diamond back moth all migrants, and today I caught 2 of these little beauties as well.
The Vestal Rhodometra sacraria, occurs in southern Britain in varying numbers, with as many as several hundred on good immigration years.
It is a pretty little moth, some specimens of which can be really quite pink in colour.
On another note, my trap was full with wasps this morning (over 30!) I am giving it a break tonight.....hopefully they will forget it is there and leave my trap alone - wasps are really not my most fave insects!
